The lectures will be based on this textbook mostly.
ALTERNATIVE TEXTBOOK: Abstract Algebra (3rd edition)
by David S. Dummit and Richard M. Foote, John Wiley & Sons Inc., ISBN 0-471-43334-9. This textbook contains the materials we cover in the course.

Exams
There are two in-class midterm exams and a final exam, all submitted in hard-copy and all held at 305 Aderhold Learning Center (ALC).

First Exam: 09/30/2026 (Wednesday), 2:00–3:15pm, closed book/notes, no calculators.

Second Exam: 11/04/2026 (Wednesday), 2:00–3:15pm, closed book/notes, no calculators.

Final Exam: 12/09/2026 (Wednesday), 1:30pm–4:00pm,
closed book/notes, no calculators.
The final exam will be cumulative with a slight emphasis on
the materials not covered in the two midterm exams.
